Mulch project

3 inches is an editable example, not a recommendation for every plant or material. Enter the total depth you want after topping up.

Bag & bulk purchasing

Check the bag label and supplier minimum or delivery increment. Bags and bulk are alternatives; do not add them together.

BEFORE YOU ORDER

Measure what needs adding.

01 Find the area

Use length × width in feet, or enter a known area in square feet. For irregular beds, add non-overlapping sections and leave out paths and unmulched areas.

02 Choose the added depth

For a new layer, use your desired depth. For top-ups, subtract the measured existing depth from your desired total. If the existing layer is already deep enough, no additional mulch is needed.

03 Choose bags or bulk

Cubic feet = square feet × added inches ÷ 12. Divide by 27 for cubic yards. Bags and bulk orders round up independently to your purchasing units. No settling or uneven-ground allowance is included.
